Most people in this group don't think of themselves as anxious.

They think of themselves as thoughtful. Responsible. Caring. They're the ones who try to see every angle before making a decision, who notice what other people need, who think ahead, plan ahead, and work hard to avoid mistakes.

These strategies often make sense. At some point, they probably helped you navigate a world that felt uncertain, overwhelming, or unpredictable.

But over time, what began as a way to stay safe can become exhausting. You may find yourself replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, carrying responsibility for everyone around you, or feeling like your mind never truly gets a chance to rest.

Beyond Overthinking is an 8-week virtual therapy group for adults in California and Washington who are ready to understand the patterns beneath chronic worry, perfectionism, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm. Through psychoeducation, mindfulness and somatic practices, experiential exercises, guided reflection, and supportive discussion, we'll explore why these patterns develop, what keeps them in place, and how to build a different relationship with uncertainty, emotions, and yourself.

This group isn't about getting rid of anxiety. It's about developing the awareness, skills, and self-trust to stop letting anxiety run the show.

What you'll work toward

  • Understand anxiety and overthinking as protective strategies rather than personal failures
  • Develop greater awareness of emotional and nervous system patterns
  • Learn practical tools for emotional regulation
  • Increase self-compassion and reduce self-criticism
  • Strengthen self-trust and confidence in decision-making
  • Improve boundaries and reduce people-pleasing behaviors
  • Build supportive connections with others facing similar challenges

How sessions work

This structured therapy group combines psychoeducation, mindfulness-based practices, somatic awareness, experiential exercises, guided reflection, and facilitated discussion. Sessions balance practical skill-building with deeper exploration of the patterns that contribute to anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, and self-doubt.

Good fit

You frequently overthink or second-guess yourself. You feel responsible for everyone around you, struggle with perfectionism or people-pleasing, or have difficulty turning off your thoughts. You experience chronic worry or emotional overwhelm — and you might not think of yourself as "anxious." You're the planner, the caretaker, the high achiever who tries to see every angle. You want practical tools alongside meaningful self-understanding, in a space where you don't have to perform or explain yourself.

Not a fit

This group is not appropriate for active psychosis, acute suicidality, severe substance use disorder, significant cognitive impairment, or anyone who needs a higher level of care than a weekly outpatient group can provide.

Screening

After you submit the interest form, we'll reach out to schedule a brief consult and send an intake form. Enrollment is confirmed only after clinical screening — not everyone who applies will be a fit, and that's okay. Questions? Email arielle@nestharmreduction.com.
